St.Patricks Testimony - A Born Again Believer!

Patrick was born in 385 in Britain in the modern-day town of Dumbarton, Scotland. Patrick opens his autobiographical St. Patrick’s Confession with these opening lines:

"My name is Patrick. I am a sinner, a simple country person, and the least of all believers. I am looked down upon by many. My father was Calpornius. He was a deacon; his father was Potitus, a priest, who lived at Bannavem Taburniae. His home was near there, and that is where I was taken prisoner. I was about sixteen at the time."

Through the difficulty and struggle of being kidnapped by raiders and brought to Bannavem Taburniae,  Patrick became a born again believer in Jesus Christ.

A born again believer is one who has received Jesus Christ as his or her personal Lord and Savior.

Born again believers have been given the Holy Spirit of God in response to their faith in Jesus Christ's death and ressurection for their sins at Calvary. They simply believe in their hearts and confess "Jesus died for me."

In his own confession as stated above, Patrick knew he was a sinner but he also discovered that he could be saved from his sins.

Patrick wrote this beautiful expression of His faith in Jesus Christ:

"Christ shield me today

Against wounding

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,

Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,

Christ on my right, Christ on my left,

Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,

Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,

Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,

Christ in the eye that sees me,

Christ in the ear that hears me."

Much like you and I, Patrick was born with the ability to chose to do the right or wrong thing, no matter how big or how small.

The problem is that we all have sinned and this has separated us from God. Even our righteousness before God amounts to filthy rags! Even the smallest sinner cannot come into God's kingdom.

The Bible states "For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God". With that in mind, it is clearly impossible through our own merits to achieve right standing with God and to go and be with Him in Heaven after we die. It is ONLY through the miracle of Jesus Christ, the perfect Son of God who came from Heaven, born without sin, to take away our sin through His sacrifice, that we can be with God and that for eternity.

After being kidnapped by raiders Patrick realized that his only hope of survival would be to place his faith in Jesus Christ.

Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior? He was God manifested in human flesh to be made sin for us. He suffered and died in order that all your sin could be accounted for and to give you a new nature, with the Holy Spirit abiding within. He can and wants to take away all of your sins and come abide in you and in your life today!

The Bible states:

"But if we walk in the light as He (God) is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." 1 John 1:7

Would you like to have your sins forgiven? You can through the free gift of Jesus Christ, God's Son.

Confess to God your sinfulness and ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior today! There is not a moment to lose to receive the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

"For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved from coming judgement and to be with God forever!

And if you did that, I'm certain it would make even Patrick very happy!

"Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth." Luke 15:10
